Bankie Talk are the first to conceive of, and produce, the first Young Visually Impaired Persons Audio youth Magazine. This Project has been running now for over 5 Years and was spearheaded by Bankie Talk and has been accomplished in partnership with a number of the local schools, in West Dunbartonshire.
Bankie talk is a talking newspaper for the blind. It was established in 1989 by a group of dedicated volunteers.
Since then it has grown from strength to strength and we now send tapes and discs to nearly 100 blind and visually impaired people every week, most of who live in the Clydebank area and some ex-bankies that live further afield.
We place the local newspaper and other information on tape/disc. Before our Bankie Talk blind and visually impaired people had to rely on their relatives and friends to let them know about local news and events.
