Bankie talk is a talking newspaper for the blind. It was established in 1989 by a group of dedicated volunteers.

Since then it has grown from strength to strength and we now send tapes to nearly 100 blind and visually impaired people every week, most of who live in the Clydebank area and some ex-bankies that live further afield.

We place the local newspaper and other information on tape, before bankie talk blind and visually impaired people had to rely on their relatives and friends to let them know about local news and events.

Bankie Talk is in the early stage of producing the first virtual newspaper in the U.K

This will enable visually impaired people to access a weekly newspaper on the web without using a screen reader. We also think that it will help people that have literacy issues. This Project will be done in partnership with some of the local schools in West Dunbartonshire.
