Bankie talk is a talking newspaper for the blind. It was established in 1989 by a group of dedicated volunteers.

Since then it has grown from strength to strength and we now send tapes to nearly 100 blind and visually impaired people every week, most of who live in the Clydebank area and some ex-bankies that live further afield.

We place the local newspaper and other information on tape, before bankie talk blind and visually impaired people had to rely on their relatives and friends to let them know about local news and events.

In June 2009 Bankie Talk was awarded funding from the big lottery fund to expand the young blind person’s magazine, this will enable us to partner with two more schools in the area, it will also mean that there will be twelve issues of the youth magazine each year for the next three years. This should be starting in August 2009.
